Some general information about the situation of the Polish church

The number of believers in Poland:

Poland has about 38 million people
The percentage of evangelical believers is 0,02 % in a mostly catholic nation.
The Baptist Church in Poland has 3500 members in the whole country.

The number of believers in Poznan, our city:

Poznan has a population of 800.000 people.
In our city, we have only 5 evangelical churches, each with about 100 people coming, which sums up to 500 evangelical believers altogether!

Spiritual situation:

Many people were praying for our country and working hard to preach the Gospel for many years.

For example: In 1430, after revival and persecution in Czech, many brothers escaped to the north, which was Poland. Many of them came to our city, Poznan. There was revival going on until a catholic bishop came from Kracow with an army and surrounded our city demanding Poznan to give 5 preachers who were very active in preaching the Gospel. Finally the city gave them, and all of them were burned in the old square area. Now we go to this same place to preach the Gospel on the street.
This is just one example of how great the spiritual battle is in our city and our country.

Our city, as I mentioned is 99% catholic. The catholic church has a strong influence in the area of politics. After the fall of communism, people are empty, they are searching for something that will fill them. Many of them have experienced that catholicism can't fill this emptiness. At the same time all kinds of sects (Jehovah Witnesses, Hare Krishna, Occults, Mormons etc.) are coming to Poland and trying to steal peoples souls. So there is a great urgency to preach the Gospel in this city!

Praise the Lord, that the believing Church, even if it is small, is reacting in the right way. People are active, we go on the street, to high schools etc., to preach the Gospel!

It seems that we live in very special time, people are open. This time may be very short.
